Back in Town: Gary Franklin, the veteran movie reviewer best known for his “Franklin scale of 1 to 10,” has given Germany a big fat “zero” and returned to Los Angeles after just four months. Franklin, who left his job at KABC-TV Channel 7 last December to take a position with a large German television network, said he found his new job “boring” and he could not stand Germany’s 56% tax rate plus an additional 1% to pay for German reunification. Franklin, who is Jewish, also said that a visit to a concentration camp site in East Germany helped convince him he had made a mistake.
