GETTING THE OK: J. J. Wall, who headlines at the Brea Improv this weekend, has made two “Tonight Show” appearances with Carson and calls them the biggest boost of his career. . . . “It means legitimacy for a stand-up comic,” Wall says. “The rest of your life they’ll always say about you, ‘who has appeared on “The Tonight Show.” ’ Your first goal is to make the show. Then it’s, ‘Did he like me? Will he invite me back?’ Johnny had me back, and I’ll always be grateful to him.”
