The Fountain Valley Police Department’s digital speed detector will tell you. After a year of operation, says the department’s Sgt. Darryl Nance, “it affects people’s speed; they wonder if a motorcycle cop is behind it.” The safety tool is moved around to strategic locations with known traffic problems. . . . Says Nance: “It’s just a reminder: Hey, slow down a little.”
