Wilson Endorses 2 in Same Race

Gov. Pete Wilson on Friday endorsed Madge Schaefer of Thousand Oaks in the 37th Assembly District after previously endorsing Oxnard Mayor Nao Takasugi in the same Republican primary race.
“They are two candidates the governor knows and feels would make excellent legislators,” said Dan Schnur, Wilson’s director of communications, who added that the Administration did not expect any trouble from the double endorsement.
There are seven GOP candidates seeking the primary nomination in the 37th District race on Tuesday. Wilson has endorsed 18 Assembly Republican primary candidates in races throughout the state as part of his campaign to take over voting control of the Assembly from Democrats.
