One-Fifth of U.S. Farm Exports Go to Japan: The Agriculture Department estimates that Japan will buy $8 billion worth of U.S. agricultural exports in fiscal 1992. “In fact, one-fifth of all our agricultural exports go to Japan,” said department economist William Coyle. Agriculture is one area of trade “in which the United States runs a consistent surplus with Japan, helping to offset deficits in other sectors,” he said.
