Boeing Prepares to Cut More Workers: Boeing Co. has told 588 employees that they are likely to be laid off July 17 if no new assignments are found for them. The aerospace giant has already given pink slips to 1,717 workers this year. Boeing has said it expects to trim 8,000 workers in 1992, partly through attrition. In 1991, Boeing had an average payroll of 159,100.
