After rain delay and a restart, former world champion motorcycle racer Eddie Lawson of Upland raced his 500cc Cagiva around a slippery track to win the Hungarian Grand Prix at Budapest.

It was Lawson’s 31st Grand Prix victory, but his first since he won the Swedish Grand Prix in August, 1989. It was the first victory for Italian manufacturer Cagiva.
