Bradbury : Building Height Limit Upped

The City Council voted last week to raise the building height limit by 10 feet.
The ordinance, approved 4 to 0, allows structures up to a maximum of 28 feet, subject to approval by the Planning Commission, which can lower the limit in individual cases based on neighborhood compatibility and architectural appropriateness.
Contractors have repeatedly complained that the old 18-foot limit was difficult to work with.
About a dozen residents attended the council meeting to express concern that taller buildings could obstruct views. They did not oppose the change, however, after being assured that the Planning Commission would review all building proposals.
The ordinance will take effect Aug. 20.
