Louis A. Young Jr., 73, Dartmouth’s team captain in the famous “Fifth-Down Game” of 1940, died at Bryn Mawr, Pa. Young was a guard on the Dartmouth team that ended up with a 3-0 victory because previously unbeaten Cornell relinquished the win after it was revealed by film that Cornell had been given a fifth try before scoring the apparent winning touchdown.
