If this is Squid Row, it must be Santa Cruz: The Calamari Festival is such a tradition here that the city has named a street in honor of the mollusk. This year’s festival, Aug. 1 through Sept. 7, includes squid served more ways than you can imagine, plus calamari cooking classes, a calamari cabaret, squid shopping (T-shirts, postcards, cookbooks, etc.), a squid art show and maybe an appearance by the mollusk-ular squid man (see photo, provided by festival). For more information or a complete list of the events, call (408) 427-3554.
