TOURISM

Compiled by Chris Woodyard Times staff writer

European Tourists Targeted: Even though Europeans now have a new Disneyland right in their own back yard, outside Paris, the Anaheim Area Visitor & Convention Bureau is betting that they will want to see the original.

So the bureau has enlisted a British travel agency to steer European tourists toward Orange County.

The Anaheim bureau will be represented in London by Marketing Services Ltd., which is supposed to set up free trips for tour operators, inform travel writers about the area’s tourist venues and supply information to travel agents.

“Our goal for our new U.K. representative is to increase consumer awareness and Anaheim’s exposure in tour operators’ product brochures,” said Ann Gallaugher, director of tourism development for the Anaheim bureau. “We also want to give the U.K. and German travel trade a local source for Anaheim/Orange County information.”
