A Trojan Horse?

Should we be excited about the Irvine Co. dedicating 17,000 acres of its property to permanent open space (“Irvine Co., Conservancy Form Wilderness Team,” Aug. 7)? How much of the 17,000 acres is not buildable, and how many lawsuits would they have to win in order to build on most of this ecologically sensitive land? There is that gut feeling of, “Now what are they going to ask for?” Please Donald (Bren), use those environmental mitigation credits wisely so that we and our children can look back on this monumental occasion and truly say “thank you.”
