Big Bear Area Jolted by 4.1 Aftershock

A magnitude 4.1 aftershock of the June 28 Big Bear earthquake struck nine miles east of Big Bear Lake early Monday, Caltech seismologists said. No damage or injuries were reported.

The 6:51 a.m. quake was the third aftershock of magnitude 4 or larger to occur in the Big Bear area in the last week.

Also Monday morning, a magnitude 3.4 quake hit six miles northeast of Barstow, the latest in a cluster of more than 200 earthquakes in that vicinity since the June 28 Landers temblor.
