The city of San Francisco sued the Giants to prevent the team from moving to St. Petersburg, Fla.

In a 13-page action filed in San Francisco Superior Court, the city sought preliminary and permanent injunctions to keep the Giants from leaving. The team has 30 days to respond.

Ernie Harwell, fired in 1991 after 32 years as the radio voice of the Detroit Tigers, is expected to be back next season as a member of the team’s broadcasting crew.
