Southeast Area : 5 Cities to Participate in Door-to-Door Dog Search

Five cities have decided to pay for a door-to-door search for unlicensed dogs.
Downey, Pico Rivera, Paramount, Montebello and South El Monte have agreed to pay fees ranging from $5,000 to $28,000 for the survey, beginning Oct. 1, by the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority.
Agency officials said the cities will profit from the six-month survey because there are thousands of dog owners who have failed to buy licenses, which range from $20 to $25 per dog. When canvassers find unlicensed dogs, they will attempt to collect the fees while at the homes, said Dan Morrison, executive director of the agency.
