Junior-lightweight Gabriel Ruelas of Arleta is close to being signed for a championship match with Azumah Nelson on Nov. 7.

Ruelas (32-1), 20, who boxes Gilberto Flores tonight at the Country Club, Reseda, would challenge for Nelson’s WBC junior-lightweight title.

Nelson (35-2-1), 34, has defended his title six times. He has lost only to the late Salvador Sanchez and to Pernell Whitaker.
