Continental to Cut Winter Fares: Continental Airlines said it will cut fares to Europe an average of 35% this winter, but competitors did not immediately match the discounts. The cuts come as the airline industry is trying to push fares higher. The industry has increased fares $10 to $30 twice in recent months, leading many to believe that widespread fare cutting had ended. Continental said the fares should stimulate travel during the slow winter season.
