‘Six Degrees’ Comes Together: John Guare’s play “Six Degrees of Separation” is coming to the big screen. Guare will write the screenplay of his award-winning drama, now at the Doolittle Theatre in Hollywood. In the movie version, Stockard Channing will reprise her original Broadway role as Ouisa Kittredge, the wealthy New York woman who encounters a young man who claims to be Sidney Poitier’s son, Paul. Will Smith (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) will play Paul. Fred Schepisi will direct the MGM film, which is set to begin production in February.
