Taylor Finishes 13th in Cross-Country

Former Edison standout Shelley Taylor placed 13th at the NCAA cross-country championships, helping Arkansas to a second-place finish Monday at Bloomington, Ind.
Taylor, a freshman, had a time of 17 minutes 42 seconds for the 5,000-meter course, about 40 seconds behind the winner, Carole Zajac of Villanova. UC Irvine’s Traci Goodrich, running as an individual, finished 94th in 18:33.9.
Villanova won its fourth consecutive women’s team title with 123 points. Arkansas was second with 130 points and Georgetown was third with 131.
In the men’s race, Terrence Mahon, a former La Habra standout now running for Villanova, was 24th.
