So Long, KGIL: Radio station KGIL (AM 1260) goes off the air today, having been sold to new owners who are going to change the format from talk to music and rename it KJQI. For today’s final hours, John Swaney and Jackie Olden will host their regular morning shows, topped off with a farewell collage where “everybody will do something” from 11 a.m.-noon. General Manager Tom Mosher says Christmas music will start around noon and continue “until the tape runs out,” after which the longtime Valley station will be history. KJQI will start airing in mid-January, following some equipment changes.
