Elton on Elton: In a TV interview scheduled to be broadcast today in Britain, pop star Elton John says alcohol and drug addiction turned him into a monster who abused family and friends. “My disease was so rampant in me that I thought . . . that I could solve my own problems,” the singer says. “And so when people addressed the situation and tried to tell me that I had a problem, I reacted very angrily.” John, who also suffered from the eating disorder bulimia, eventually began treatment and now, several years later, he still considers himself in treatment.
