ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST : Transient Held in Shooting Incident

A 39-year-old transient was arrested Thursday on suspicion of shooting at a U. S. Forest Service ranger, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Antoine Floyde was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon near the Green Valley ranger station, Deputy Donna Levi said. Floyde was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Floyde hot-wired a Forest Service truck that was parked in front of the station Tuesday, deputies said. The truck broke down about a quarter of a mile from the station. When the unidentified ranger went to investigate, Floyde shot at him and ran away, deputies said.
The ranger was not hit. Floyde was in possession of a .45-caliber automatic gun at the time of his arrest, Levi said.
