BOYLE HEIGHTS : Aliso-Pico Center to Undergo Repair

The City Council has voted to spend $175,000 to repair the Aliso-Pico Multipurpose Center.

The repairs will include fixing a leaky roof and replacing carpeting and floor tile throughout the 13-year-old building at 1505 E. 1st St. Workers will also enclose a patio.

“It’s been neglected for so long,” said program director Johnny Odom.

The building is home to programs that help residents find housing, employment and food, as well as classes to help students improve their grades and learn English.

Other services include a prenatal clinic and a senior nutrition program that serves 50 lunches a day.
