Valenti Issues Trade Warning: Entertainment industry jobs will be threatened unless U.S. trade negotiators fight European barriers designed to force producers to do more film and television work in Europe, Motion Picture Assn. of America President Jack Valenti said. Speaking to the American Film Marketing Assn. in Santa Monica, he added that U.S. negotiators must also improve safeguards protecting copyrights. Valenti did say, however, that he believes U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor and President Clinton understand the potential threat.
