Alejandro Pena’s doctors might have misled the Pittsburgh Pirates about his condition before the reliever signed a guaranteed $1.35-million contract last December, according to the team’s general manager, Ted Simmons. Pena has been ordered to stop throwing because of a sore right elbow.
