Hard Luck Opera: Efforts to bring Peter Sellars’ production of the John Adams opera “The Death of Klinghoffer”--scrubbed from the Los Angeles Music Center Opera schedule--to Long Beach during the 1993 Los Angeles Festival have failed. “It’s not a possibility,” said Michael Milenski, general director of the Long Beach Opera. “It’s too bad. It’s something we would like to have done,” he said. But “it was too late to salvage the time of some of the performers.”
