AIRLINES

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

United to Cancel or Delay Boeing Deliveries: United Airlines will stop taking new Boeing aircraft deliveries at the end of this summer and will take no more until May, 1995, when Boeing begins shipping its first model 777s, the company said. The move will cancel or delay delivery of more than 29 Boeing aircraft ordered for 1994. Airline analysts were not surprised by the cutbacks, which were included in Boeing Corp.’s previously announced expectations for United order postponements. United also indicated that it is considering additional cost-cutting moves, such as turning over some routes to other airlines.
