IDM’s Founder Quits: Michael J. Choppin, who founded IDM Corp. nearly 25 years ago and built it into the biggest development company in Long Beach, has resigned as the company’s chairman and chief executive after a new board of directors met for the first time. Choppin will be replaced as chairman by Joseph Prevratil, who manages the Queen Mary. Prevratil’s business associate, Bruce Juell, was named the company’s president. IDM was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July, a victim of falling real estate values and overbuilding.
