Companies Launch Inventory System: Catalina Information Resources, a joint venture owned by Catalina Marketing Corp. in Anaheim and Information Resources Inc. in Chicago, said Monday it has launched a new grocery-store inventory monitoring system in 650 supermarkets in Southern California and the Midwest. The Quick Response Scan Network system generates immediate product sales data that store operators and manufacturers can use to control inventory costs. Lucky, Ralphs, Alpha Beta and Food 4 Less grocery stores are using the system, as is Dominick’s/Omni, a Chicago-based chain. Catalina Marketing and Information Resources operate computerized marketing networks for grocery-store operators.
