For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* If you are detecting brown spots in your lawn and you are keeping your lawn well-watered, lawn moths might be your problem.

* For an unusual small bulb flower, try autumn crocus. Plant it now and in just a few weeks you’ll be delighted with its clusters of lavender-blue flowers.

* For a continuing show of color in the shade, pot up some lobelia or impatiens.
