Mall Crawlers Need Something More to Do

Re “On the Prowl” (Aug. 5): These two girls, ages 12 and 13, spend their days wandering the mall, applying makeup, flirting with boys and spending money because they are “too young to work” and have nothing else to do.
What lifestyle values are they learning? They could be doing volunteer work, earning money baby-sitting or any of numerous other involvement opportunities.
