French Film Festival Slated in Baldwin Hills for September

A French film festival will be held Sept. 17-19 at the Baldwin Hills Entertainment Complex, at La Brea Avenue and Coliseum Street. It is presented in cooperation with the Los Angeles Urban League and the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles.
There will be a gala opening Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. with the interracial romance “The Story of a Three-Day Pass,” directed by the event’s honorary chairman, Melvin Van Peebles. Other films to be shown are the Oscar-winning “Indochine,” “The Lover,” “Delicatessen,” “The Hairdresser’s Husband” and “Mama, There’s a Man in Your Bed.”
There will also be films directed by French-speaking African directors, including Malian director Cheick Oumar Sissoko (“Finzan”) and Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambety (“Hyenas”).
