Superior Industries to Expand Plant in Arkansas

Superior Industries International Inc., a Van Nuys maker of cast aluminum wheels, will invest $15 million in a second expansion of its Fayetteville, Ark., plant.

The plant had been undergoing an expansion since last year to increase its capacity to 2.7 million wheels annually from 1.2 million wheels. Now, Superior said it will add enough capacity to eventually increase the Fayetteville plant’s annual output to 3.7 million wheels.

Superior also said that construction of its Chihuahua, Mexico, plant, which began in July, is proceeding on schedule. The Mexican plant is scheduled to produce as many as 1.2 million wheels annually, with shipments set to begin April 1, 1994.
