OC HIGH / STUDENT NEWS & VIEWS : Sticky Business

Costa Mesa High School students tired of finding dried gum under their desks and stepping into gooey gum on walkways have come up with an alternative: the Gum Wagon. The wagon is rolled around campus and parked in various locations to gather unwanted gum; it makes guest appearances at football games, rallies and other school events. Originators Sara Snyder and Erica Sieben, both juniors, have their sights set on the Guinness Book of World Records. The unique disposal vehicle has garnered differing reactions. “It’s very creative,” says junior Tabby Cleavland. “It’s unsanitary, a waste of time and pointless,” counters senior Shawn Carney. Either way, the Gum Wagon plans to stick around.
