Derr Will Head American Petroleum Institute: Kenneth T. Derr, chairman of Chevron Corp., was named to the position at the industry trade association’s annual convention in Chicago. He succeeds Phillips Petroleum Co. Chairman C.J. Silas. In a speech to the group, Derr noted that the oil industry is again being welcomed abroad by countries that nationalized their petroleum industries in the 1970s.
