L.A. Artists and Art Organizations to Get Grants from Getty Trust

Los Angeles artists John Outterbridge, Caren Carson, John Valadez, Liz Young and Tom Knechtel have been selected to each receive $15,000 unrestricted fellowships from the J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts.
Several local arts organizations will also receive Getty grants, including East Los Angeles’ Self-Help Graphics and Art ($21,500), the Santa Monica Museum of Art ($18,000), Plaza de la Raza ($14,250), Santa Monica’s 18th Street Arts Complex ($10,000) and the Gay and Lesbian Media Coalition ($7,500).
Other recipients include Long Beach’s Homeland Neighborhood Cultural Center ($9,000), LAX: The Los Angeles Exhibition ($8,450), Venice’s Social and Public Art Resource Center ($7,000), Angels Gate Cultural Center ($7,000) and L.A. Artcore ($2,300).
