Iran Linked to Exile’s Murder

PARIS — The Paris public prosecutor’s office has concluded that Iran’s secret service organized the 1991 murder of exiled former Iranian Prime Minister Shapour Bakhtiar, justice sources said Monday.
The prosecutor’s report recommended that three Iranian suspects held in France be brought before a court and that six other suspects on the run be tried in absentia, the sources said.
The report is the final step in a nearly 30-month investigation of the killing of Bakhtiar, a leading figure in Iran’s exiled opposition movement, near Paris.
The Iranian Embassy in Paris denied any involvement by Iran or its secret service in the killings.
