Costa Mesa Firm Signs Telecommunications Pact

Satellite Technology Management Inc. said Wednesday that it has signed a letter of intent with a subsidiary of Spain’s telephone company, Telefonica de Espana, to establish an international satellite-based telecommunications service.

Satellite Technology manufactures communications products, such as satellite dishes, that are installed in North America, Latin America, Europe and the Far East.

The company’s president and chief executive, Emil Youssefzadeh, said Satellite Technology plans to sell the company, Telefonica Sistemas de Satelites, about $1 million worth of equipment later this year.

The network’s first customer would be EFE, the Spanish News Agency, which would use the service to interconnect more than 80 offices around the world.
