* Regarding “Judge Orders Kevorkian to Be Tried in Assisted Suicide,” Feb. 19:

If Thomas Hyde were a horse, we would have shot him--not out of malignity, but compassion. It is a wonder that so many people cannot fathom the idea extending to fellow human beings, who are fully cognizant of their condition, the same level of compassion we bestow on family pets and barn animals. If, God forbid, I am ever in such condition as was Mr. Hyde (and Dr. Kevorkian is tied up in court), I’m changing my name to Mr. Ed.
