Tilton, British Firm Settle: Automotive Products, a unit of West Yorkshire, England-based BBA Group, settled a patent infringement and antitrust lawsuit brought by Tilton Engineering Inc. of Santa Barbara. Automotive Products agreed to pay Tilton $19.8 million. William Poms, an attorney for Tilton, said the settlement wraps up all issues in the lawsuit. The lawsuit involved a patent Tilton holds on the carbon clutch used in Formula One racing cars. After a trial last year, a jury awarded $17.2 million to Tilton. Under the settlement, Automotive Products has acquired a license to produce the product covered by the patent involved in the lawsuit.
