CRENSHAW : Proceeds of Concert to Fight Drug Abuse

The Asian American Drug Abuse Program and the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center are hosting “Showtime ‘94,” a benefit concert for the Crenshaw-based program.

Performers will include television actress Margaret Cho (“All American Girl”), the Filipino rock group Adobo, Asian American folk singer/storyteller Charlie Chin and the local Taiko drum troupe Zenshuji Zendeko.

Celebrating its 19th anniversary this year, the program provides residential care, outpatient preventive services, youth job training, prenatal care and other substance abuse services. The center is at 5318 S. Crenshaw Blvd.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Japan American Theatre, 244 S. San Pedro St.
