Where Are They Now? : JEFF TORBORG

Torborg was known more for his baseball savvy and signal-calling than his hitting. He started with the Dodgers in 1964, caught Sandy Koufax’s perfect game the next year and Bill Singer’s no-hitter in 1969. Traded to the Angels in 1970, he also caught Nolan Ryan’s no-hitter in 1973--Torborg’s final season.

Torborg, 52, was fired as manager of the Mets last year. The Rutgers graduate now is a baseball broadcaster for CBS radio. He lives with his wife in his native New Jersey.
