Jury Awards $28.6 Million for Asthma Drug Damage: The award went to a man who suffered brain damage after using a common asthma drug made by Key Pharmaceuticals Inc., a subsidiary of Schering-Plough Corp. of Madison, N.J. Paul R. Bocci III, 24, lost his short-term memory ability as a result of a toxic reaction to the drug, Theo-Dur. According to evidence at a trial in Portland, Ore., Key Pharmaceuticals sold the drug without adequately informing doctors about problems associated with its use. Schering-Plough criticized the verdict and said it plans to appeal.
