3 Rottweilers Kill Zoo Elk, Dig Escape Path

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Three Rottweilers killed a 900-pound elk at a zoo and then lunged at the curator before escaping through a hole they had dug under a fence.
The dogs, which did not injure the curator, went toward a road where children awaited a school bus but did not go near the youngsters, the curator said.
The dogs’ owner picked them up near the zoo after hearing news reports. The owner probably won’t face criminal charges, police said.
