Sanford Kick Saves Newbury Park

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Chrissy Sanford kicked a 22-yard field goal as time expired to complete a wild rally as Newbury Park High edged Agoura, 15-13, in a Marmonte League opener at Newbury Park.

Panther quarterback Justin Vint completed a 43-yard pass to Eric Mahanke and a 37-yard pass to Patrick Reddick to put Newbury Park (3-1) at the Charger four-yard line. An incomplete pass stopped the clock with five seconds remaining, setting the stage for Sanford’s kick--her first varsity field goal.

Adam Eyre’s conversion following a four-yard scoring pass from Eric Fitzgerald to Roger Liang gave Agoura a 13-12 lead early in the fourth quarter.
