The cruelty inflicted upon the turtles (“Seafood Dealer Accused of Cruelty in Turtles’ Death,” Sept. 22) vividly reported is certainly disgusting. But we as human beings share in the cruelty. Our demands are the driving force behind the destruction of the turtles, dolphins, whales, sturgeon, bluefin tuna, salmon, shark and all the other depleted or vanished species. Bon appetit! Now about that elk in your freezer . . .
