Hughes Leads UCLA Women by UC Irvine

Junior center Kisa Hughes scored a career-high 30 points and had 11 rebounds to lead UCLA’s women’s basketball team to an 86-74 victory over UC Irvine Monday night at Pauley Pavilion.

Hughes had 17 points in the first half as UCLA (1-1) built a 49-21 lead by halftime. Irvine (0-2) used a pressing defense in the second half to narrow the gap to 11 points with 30 seconds to play. Sabrina Robertson and Tamera Thomas had 18 points each for Irvine.
