Thousands Have Enjoyed Trail Builder’s Efforts

Thanks for the article on trail builder Ron Webster (“Walkways in the Wilderness,” Dec. 27), one of the most unrecognized and unappreciated people in Los Angeles County.

Although I have never met the man, I can say unequivocally that his efforts have indirectly led to the enjoyment by thousands of hikers who saw scenery and breathed clean, fresh air. As a nine-year Sierra Club hike leader and user of San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains trails, I and the newcomers I’ve led have been opened to many pleasurable experiences.
