Aquarium to Offer 6 Afternoon Classes

Beginning next Tuesday, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s Sea Club will offer students in grades 7 to 12 the opportunity to observe animal behavior and explore beaches, salt marshes and rocky shorelines using the aquarium’s resources.

Each of the six weekly sessions will focus on a different area of interest, developed by the students. The first session will be a floating laboratory boat trip.

Students will be able to examine specimens under a microscope and use the aquarium’s collections, laboratory, library and field equipment. The aquarium will be the base station for ocean exploration.

ENVIRONMENT

* An introductory course in the geology of the Palos Verdes Peninsula coast will be offered by the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium from noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Lab time and field work will be included. (310) 548-7563.
