Pasadena Firm to Acquire Electric-Power Engineering Firm: Parsons Corp., an international construction and engineering firm, has agreed in principle to pay $46 million for Gilbert/Commonwealth Inc., a Reading, Pa., design engineering company that specializes in such high-tech electricity-producing technologies as coal gasification and fuel cells. The move will help Parsons capitalize on the growing demand for new power generation in Asia and the Middle East, said Leonard J. Pieroni, Parson chairman and chief executive.
